Easy Consuming of Organic Food Items

There is only one goal when it comes to feeding Baby to offer him the best. But it’s not easy to navigate between the regulations for infant products, organic labels, homemade. We take stock to help you choose the right foods for your little one.

Preparing a baby meal can sometimes be a real headache for parents! They want to know what is really in the products they give to their children, with a real desire to obtain more transparency and more safety. And with good reason, since the chemicals present in food (pesticides, methylmercury, PCBs, etc.) can have consequences on health, especially on children under 3, who are more vulnerable and whose brains are in full development. This is the reason why more and more of them are favoring organic on the plate of their little ones. But is organic food the only way to eat well? Should we always favor it when choosing baby foods? Choosing the lebenswert baby formula is important in this case.

Infant milk, organic or not organic?

Like all childhood foods, infant formulas (in powder or liquid form) are subject to very strict regulations which guarantee their nutritional composition and safety. To manufacture their milk, laboratories must therefore meet precise standards in terms of breeding, traceability, selection of the various components and controls throughout the production chain. Regarding organic infant milks, they meet the same requirements and thus provide parents with a double guarantee: that of infant regulations and that of the organic production method. It is therefore up to you to make the choice according to your values (and your budget).

Small jars, organic or not organic?

Ditto for dishes for children under 3. The regulations impose very rigorous specifications, which in terms of safety, has nothing to envy to organic. Indeed, the raw materials used for the manufacture of the small pots are extremely regulated and for example have a level of pesticide residues close to zero. In addition, the small jars are guaranteed without coloring or preservatives, their salt content is limited and hundreds of controls are carried out in order to follow the product from A to Z. On the other hand, if you are in an eco-responsible approach, that the preservation of the planet and animal well-being are important to you (this is also part of your child’s future!), you can favor organic. Many infant food brands have chosen to develop a range labeled “organic farming”.

Homemade, organic or not organic?

ANSES (National Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health Safety) recommends varying the diet and sources of supply. The ideal is therefore to alternate between small jars and homemade preparations. For the latter, it is better to favor organic, because even if foods from conventional agriculture are regularly checked, organic offers more guarantees to limit the accumulation of chemicals that our children ingest every day. You can also refer to the “Food for toddlers” logo (a small blue and white baby with a bib) on products intended for infant foods (launched in October 2018 by the SFAE), which meets a standard voluntary and which offers a total guarantee for babies’ meals.
